Hyderabad: Steps initiated to clear Metro debris

Currently, huge machines are at the site only for a day or two

Hyderabad: With debris, machinery etc. for Metro Rail blocking the road, traffic snarls have become common at Ameerpet, Panjagutta, Yusufguda and Jubilee Hills.

Senior officials of Hyderabad Metro Rail, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and traffic police visited the affected areas on Wednesday to find a solution.

Though traffic in Ameerpet has been diverted, there is a lot of chaos as construction material is often left on the road and it becomes difficult for traffic to flow smoothly.

N.V.S. Reddy, managing director of Hyderabad Metro Rail, said, “We are asking them to remove the debris wherever pillar works have been completed and also to move whatever machinery is possible. Currently, huge machines are at the site only for a day or two and are removed thereafter. These areas are high traffic zones and there is no open space around to keep the machinery, hence we are doing our best to finish the work within a couple of days so that there is not much chaos.”

Traffic from Ameerpet to Jubilee Hills, going towards Hitec City, is quite high. Additional traffic commissioner Jitender, said, “There are six different ways from where the roads meet at Jubilee Hills check post — Ameerpet, Yusufguda, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Filmnagar and Hitec City.”

In order to ease traffic congestion, ground checking was done for the proposed leveling of five multi-level flyovers near KBR Park. GHMC officers also inspected constructions that would come in the way of the plan. Those that are unauthorised would be removed.
