The Adoor police have arrested Molly Raja, 50, of Valakodikkavu Keezharakkudy house at Nellickamon in Ranni on Wednesday on charges of cheating several people after promising them jobs abroad.

Circle inspector S. Nandakumar said the accused was absconding after many persons lodged complaints against her at various police stations, accusing her of taking hefty sums of money promising them jobs, mostly in the Gulf countries.

The arrest was made from Ranni in connection with a cheating case registered against her at the Adoor police station on the basis of a complaint filed by Johnson of Parakkode. The petitioner alleged that the accused had taken Rs.1,20,000 from him, promising job for his son-in-law in Dubai. The police had also issued a look-out notice against her, earlier. Several cheating cases against her were pending before various police stations across the State, the police said.
