DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin on Wednesday wondered why the AIADMK government has not arrested former Agriculture Minister Agri S.S. Krishnamoorthy for allegedly “forcing an executive engineer of the department to commit suicide.”

“The government dropped Mr Krishnamurthy from party post and ministry only following protests from the Opposition, but not taking any action against him,” he said, while addressing a demonstration in his Kolathur Assembly constituency.

Mr. Stalin alleged the government had turned a blind eye to the requirements of his constituency and Rs 4.76 crore of the total Rs six crore allotted by him remained unused.

“When the DMK was at the helm of affairs of the Chennai Corporation, we constructed many flyovers to ease traffic. Now there is no effort to create infrastructure. The Mayor, like his leader and former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, who made suo moto statements in the Assembly, is just making announcements,” he said.

Mr. Stalin said the government also failed to distribute any welfare measures for the people in the constituency.

“We have sent over 500 applications seeking old-age pension, financial assistance for widows and poor. So far not a single person has been offered any help,” he said.
