2-day National Business Research Conference begins at JU

JAMMU, Mar 18: The two-day National Business Research Conference on “Sustainable Resource Management in North-West Himalayas: Socio-economic, Cultural and Political Interfaces”, began here today.
Jammu University Vice-chancellor Prof R D Sharma inaugurated the conference, which is being organized by The Management School, Kathua Campus.
The Keynote speakers for the Conference, included  GP Rao, Management Consultant, New Delhi and former chief of HR and MS Recron Malaysia (Reliance Group), Prof Sangeeta Thapliyal, Centre for Inner Asian Studies, School of International Studies, JNU, Prof  K V  Bhanu Murthy, Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi,  Jyotsana Roy, Director and CEO TARAA- Human Development and Facilitation Consultants Private Ltd, New Delhi and Prof  GM Bhat, Professor of Geology and Rector Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor called upon the teaching and research fraternity to build the image of the Campus and this, he said, can be achieved by the collective efforts put in by the teaching fraternity and the research scholars.  He said that these conferences and seminars provide platform to the young faculty and Research Scholars where they can be benefitted by the ideas of the people from academia and corporate world.
Dwelling on the theme of the conference, Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Rector Kathua Campus, emphasized on the need of the sustainable development around which environment and development are structured. Stressing on the socio-economic, cultural and political interfaces with respect to the North-West Himalayas, she said that all the pillars of development are intertwined and any decision taken on one factor has direct impact on many other factors.
GP Rao, in his keynote address, deliberated upon the relevance of academic fraternity for acting as a connect amongst the various stakeholders of society that generates self renewal and dynamism. He talked upon the incorporation of VUCA that refers to relevance of velocity, Uniqueness, Creativity that foster creative destruction and Adaptation to create a society that is sustainable and resilient.
Prof Sangeeta Thapliyal addressed the key strategic issues being faced by regions that act as a predictor for determining the cross-border sustainable negotiations.
In his concluding remarks, Prof  Keshav Sharma, Dean Business Studies, hoped that all participants and delegates will take the advantage of the topics that will be discussed during the two-day long sessions.
On this occasion a Conference Proceedings was also released.
Prof M  K  Dhar (Registrar),  Prof  P  K  Srivastav,  Prof  B  C  Sharma,  Prof  V  D  Singh,  Jai Kumar Sharma, Dr Daud I  Baba,  and others attended the inaugural function.
Later, two  Plenary sessions were held today,  in which Prof  K V  Bhanu Murthy,  Jyotsana Roy and Prof  G  M. Bhat delivered key-note speeches in these sessions.
Prof  K V  Bhanu Murthy  talked upon environment sustainability: global disputes and global environment degradation while   Jyotsana Roy deliberated upon the various strategies for social and gender inclusion in agricultural value chain analysis. Prof G M Bhat talked about the economic reliance of J&K landscape.
