GHAZIABAD: Police assured residents of Kaushambi on Wednesday that action will be initiated against banquet halls that play loud music at odd hours of the day and night.
A delegation of residents had met cops on Wednesday demanding imposition of restrictions on banquet halls on playing loud music between 10pm and 6am.
About half a dozen banquet halls, built within the residential sectors of Kaushambi after 2010, have allegedly been contributing to noise pollution by allowing bands to play music during the night.
Residents said the menace has continued unabated despite repeated complaints made by them
to the civic authorities.
On Wednesday, members of Kaushambi Apartments' RWAs (KARWA) met senior officials of Indirapuram police station demanding strict enforcement of rules on such establishments.
"In Kaushambi, there is continuous noise pollution from buses in the Anand Vihar depot as well as in the Kaushambi depot. In addition, huge loudspeakers blare out loud music every day till around 3am. Not only are the elderly disturbed, but also kids find it difficult to study. Though there are various court orders banning loud music in public places at night, which are flouted in Kaushambi," KARWA president V K Mittal said.
Ghaziabad police assured the delegation that strict action would be taken against those banquet hall owners who were found guilty.
