Communist Party of India (Marxist) Central committee member and Mattannur MLA E.P. Jayarajan, has said that he had no regrets about what he had done in the Assembly on March 13 during the protest by Left Democratic Front (LDF) MLAs against the presentation of the budget by Finance Minister K.M. Mani.
Mr. Jayarajan, one of the five LDF MLAs suspended for the rest of the session for damaging equipment and chair of the Speaker during their protest in the Assembly, was accorded a reception by LDF workers at the railway station here on Tuesday on his arrival from Thiruvananthapuram. In his address, he said that he was proud of what he had done in the Assembly as part of the protest. He said he had climbed on to the Speaker’s dais to register his protest. He was raising the voice of the people of the State in the House, he added.
Stating that he was answerable to the people who had elected him as their representative, Mr. Jayarajan alleged that Speaker N. Sakthan was lowering the status of the Assembly to that of an attender in the Congress office.
The MLA was also accorded reception at Mattannur later in the evening.
