Jinkee Pacquiao: Manny considering 2016 Senate run

Manny Pacquiao is considering running for a Senate seat in 2016, according to his wife Jinkee.

 

She confirmed this in a quick interview aired over "24 Oras" on Wednesday.

 

"Yeah, posible, oo," said Jinkee, the current vice governor of Sarangani province, about the possibility.

 

 

The Filipino ring icon, who is currently on his second term as representative of Sarangani, was among the possible winners for a seat in the upper chamber of the Philippine legislature in Pulse Asia's latest survey.

 

Speculation has been rife about the political future of Pacquiao, with the fighter refusing to neither confirm nor deny his plans to run for higher office in 2016.

 

But the opposition United Nationalist Alliance said as early as last year that it was willing to put Pacquiao on its Senate slate. —JST, GMA News
