KPT invites EoI to set up 1,000 ha renewable energy park in Kutch

Kandla Port Trust has invited expression of interest(EoI) to set up a renewable energy park on 1,000 ha land at Kandla and Tuna. Global tenders are out in this regard and the last date for submission of expression of interest(EoI) is 2nd April.

This project has been taken up under ‘Make in India’ policy introduced by Government of India.

Proposed port led SEZ will be one of the biggest multipurpose SEZs in India. It will cover 3600 ha land in Kandla and 1400 land in Tuna – in total 5,000 ha land. Of this 1,000 ha land has been marked for energy park, while the other land is likely to be allotted for setting up general engineering units including heavy electrical equipment units.

Coastline of Gujarat has capacity to generate 10,000 MW wind energy. Center for Wind Energy Technology has identified 40 locations in Gujarat suitable to generate wind energy. Kandla is one of them. Even on solar energy front, Kutch region is blessed with sunlight suitable for solar power generation available for 310 days in year.

As per the details of EoI, power production company located in proposed energy park in Kandla will be allowed to distribute electricity through national power grid.
