Truck drivers strike against extortion

MIRPURKHAS - Hundreds of truck drivers observing strike since last four days blocked the main Mirpurkhas Hyderabad highway road at Toll Plaza Mirpurkhas here the other day.
They are protesting against extortion being received through contractors at weighing machine.
They parked their loaded trucks on Hyderabad Mirpurkhas road blocking traffic.
Talking to media protesters Aleem Kaim Khani, Mushtaque Narejo and others alleged that private a contractor of the weighing machine (kanta), who claims to be a close relative of a provincial minister, demands extra money through his armed men. They claimed that on denying they tortured drivers.
They blamed the government for not intervening and taking notice into this matter.
They warned that their protest will continue till the acceptance of their demands, while appealed to the government to intervene without any delay.
Mithi-bound Passenger bus robbed
A Mithi bound passenger bus was robbed between Tandoallahyar and Mirpurkhas here the other day.
According to details an air condition passenger coach was on its way to Mithi when about 5 armed robbers intercepted it near Tandoallahyar. The robbers held passengers as hostage and made away with cash, gold ornaments, prize bonds, wrist watches etc. near Jamrao canal bridge. Later, passengers held a demonstration at Toll plaza Mirpurkhas while demanded SSP Mirpurkhas to take notice and arrest the culprits.
Court frees 10 peasants
District and sessions court Mirpurkhas has set free 10 peasants produced by Degan Bhurgari police including women and children after recording statements here the other day.
According to details, following a complaint made to sessions court stating that 10 peasants including women and children were detained on the lands of Ameerdin, in Deh 215, taluka Kot Ghulam Muhammad in the limit of Degan Bhurgari police station while they were forced in to labor and deprived of wages. It was requested to court to order concerned police for their release.
On the order of sessions Judge, Degan Bhurgari police carried out raid on Sunday at the above farmland and released the 10 detained peasants including Hatim Khaskheli, Dawood Khaskheli, Basra, Hoor, Zahida, Ayaz, Rafia etc.
On Monday, they were produced in the sessions court which ordered to release them after recording their statements.
