HC grants bail to activists

Thushar Nirmal Sarathy and Jaison C. Cooper, who were arrested by the police under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for alleged Maoist link in January, were released on bail by the High Court of Kerala on Tuesday

The Bench consisting of Justice K.T. Sankaran and Justice Babu Mathew P. Joseph released the activists on bail. In both the cases, prosecution stated that the accused were found in possession of some leaflets supporting the views of the CPI (Maoist) group.

In the case of Thushar, the prosecution submitted that he was a “member of a front organisation of the CPI (Maoist) popularly known as Janakeeya Manushyavakasha Prasthanam. — Special Correspondent
