March 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - MANGALURU:

Police Commissioner S. Murugan has placed under suspension a Police Sub Inspector of the Mangaluru East Police, who reportedly delayed registering the complaint of a student, who had been allegedly kidnapped and robbed on Monday.

Jessy Abraham had rushed to the nearby Mangaluru East Police to register the complaint. The lady Assistant Sub Inspector at the station made her wait from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. before asking Ms. Abraham to file the complaint with the jurisdictional Mangaluru Rural Police Station.

Police Commissioner S. Murugan said that an order has been issued to place her under suspension pending an inquiry. An explanation from Police Sub Inspector has been sought, he said.
