Athletics examination

The Dakshina Kannada Athletics Association and the Karnataka Amateur Athletics Association will conduct Federation State Technical Officials examination in Mangaluru from April 4 to 6. Those who qualify in this examination, can work as officials (technical) at State-level athletics competitions, said an official release. Felicitation

Corporation Bank on Tuesday awarded membership to the Chairman and Managing Director’s Club to 36 branch heads of the bank who excelled n various areas of operation during 2012-13. CMD S.R. Bansal inducted the branch heads to the club at a ceremony in Bengaluru. Various parameters including advances, clientele expansion, recovery, non-interest income etc., are considered while selecting the performers.

Mother Mary Alosia lecture today

St. Agnes College and Agnesian Alumnae Association have organised Mother Mary Aloysia Endowment Lecture on Wednesday at the college auditorium in Mangaluru at 3 p.m. The former Governor of Rajasthan Margaret Alva would deliver the lecture on the topic “Women in Politics-Prospects and Challenges.”

No Smoking Day observed

Centre for Prevention of Substance Abuse, Yenepoya University, observed No Smoking Day in the university campus and surrounding areas on Wednesday. Presiding over the programme, university Vice-Chancellor Chandramohan said even passive smokers get affected. Anil Kakkunje from Department of Psychiatry made a presentation on the latest available alternatives to quit smoking and the treatment. Abhay Nirgude, professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine of the University was present.
