Kashmiri scholars demand Devnagri as additional script

JAMMU, Mar 17: A resolution demanding that Devnagri script should be recognized as an additional script for writing and teaching Kashmiri to the exiled younger generation in the same manner as Urdu is recognized as additional script for writing and teaching Punjabi was unanimously passed during the three day long Samanbal 2015 jointly organized by Samprati and Kashmir Cultural Trust here.
Through another resolution a strong resentment was expressed against the unfounded claim by a Kashmir University Professor that Lal Ded had converted to Islam. The writers through the resolution demanded that insinuation against the icon poet Lal Ded should be withdrawn as there is absolutely no such indication in Kashmir history and literature. The insinuation has been promoted in some personnel typography written in 18th century 500 years after death of Lal Ded.
The second Kashmiri language and literary session discussed continuity and preservation of Kashmiri language among children.
RL Shant was the chairman of the Session, Pandit Omkar Koul, B N Betab, R L Talashi were panelists. During this session contribution of Kashmiri writers in Urdu, Hindi and English were discussed.
Dr K L Choudhary chaired the second session in which participants discussed the structure of Kashmiri language. M L Misri and M K Santoshi were panelists in this session. Dr R L Bhat, P N Trisal, Brij Nath Betab, Mahraj Krishan Mahraj and Hasrat Gada participated in the Session. Senior writer Avtar Krishan Rehbar talked on establishing textual criticism of Lal Vakh and Sharukh of Nund Rishi.
Last session was of Kashmiri art music and films in exile which was chaired by Kailash Mehra Sadhu. Panelists were Virender Rawal, Makhan Lal Saraf, Rajinder Tickoo, Padam Shri and Kuldeep Sudeshi.
During the second day session Kashmir speaking competition was held among children and 16 children were honoured.
The conference concluded with a Mushira poetic symposium at Jagti township.
In today’s programme miss Pooja presented Kashmiri songs followed by multilingual mushaira in which noted poets including Arvind Shah,Kusum Dhar, Bimla Aima, Dr.R L Shant, Kundan Paaras, Jawahar Lal Kosum, B N Abilash,M K Kanwal, Maharaj Krishen Maharaj, Prem Nath Prem, Dr.R L Bhat, Ashok Gowhar, Rajender Aagosh, T N Vishwas, T Sagar, A K Zadu,B L Arpan, Pradeep Koul, Jai Kreshen Aakash, G  L Wafa and G K Bahar recited there kalams.Presidium was held by M K Kanwal and guest of honour was B N Abilash.Other dignitaries who graced the occasion were Professor Omkar N Koul, Roop Krishan Bhat, Roshan Lal Bhat, G L Koul, Dr.Roop Krishen Bhat, T K Koul, Rajender Koul, A K Bhat and Nanaji Pandita. The proceedings were conducted by T Sagar and secretary Samprati Kundan Paaras proposed vote of thanks.
