Srinagar, Mar 17: Two drug peddlers were arrested by Kulgam police at two different nakas in Kulgam and recovered two Kg of poppy straw and 12 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from them.
A police spokesman said that Kulgam Police headed by DSP Hqr Kulgam Irshad Rather laid a naka near Behibagh and arrested Showkat Ahmad Padder son of Abdul Ahad Padder resident of Hangir Yaripora and recovered two kg of poppy straw from his possession.
A case FIR No. 20/2015 under Section 15/18 NDPS was registered in Police Station Yaripora and investigation has been taken up.
At another naka established near Demidalla another peddler Jahangir Ahmad Dhobi son of Ghulam Ahmad Dhobi resident of Budroo, Yaripora was arrested while transporting 12 bottles of Codeine phosphate.
A case FIR No. 22/2015 under Section 8/21 NDPS was registered against the peddler in this regard and investigation has been started.
