Some people collect coins and stamps. Then there are some who love to collect postcards from around the world and then there are some who like to collect greeting cards. That’s when you get curious, because in an age where everything is virtual, you come across one man who has a passion to collect greeting cards.

Those days it was rare for us to see or get anything from other countries. So I would treasure and collect them. Over the years my collection grew to 3,000. And one day I decided to just keep the best. Now, I have a little over a thousand cards,” says the man.

He has displayed his cards at his residence in two room on shelves and the floor. His oldest card is as old as 40 years and he is still collecting them.

Some cards that he beams about is a wedding invitation card that was brought out as a book with scriptures from Ramayana , then he has a wedding invitation card designed on a CD and a bank manager’s wedding card printed as a cheque leaf are some of the rare ones that he has. Then he has a musical card that is 40 years old. “This is still running on its original battery and the sound is good,” he says as he opens the card and Happy birthday tune plays loud and clear.

Satish also has cards that is designed as a mridanga and a few cards that have cut out designs and then there are those that move when the card is open. He also has the 3-D effect greeting cards, for instance he has a card where the woman winks at you when you move the card.

“I have dedicated this space to show interested neighbors and friends to come and see my collection. I am also open to people to send me their greeting cards in case they don’t want it,” he says.

From newyear cards, to wedding invitations and seasons greetings – if you are in a world where SMS What’s App is how you communicate and send wishes, then Satish stands apart as he is proud of his hobby that keep him hooked on to the real world.
