PALANPUR: The Mahatma Gandhi Youth foundation (MGYF) Patan on Saturday filed a defamation case against former retired Supreme Court judge Markandey Katju for his controversial statement against Mahatma Gandhi.
The complaint was filed by Advocate Pakaj Vilani on behalf of MGFY under section 500, 501, 502 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in court of D C Joshi, additional chief judicial magistrate, Patan. Hearing on the case was scheduled for April 18.
According to Vilani, Katju in his blog had described Gandhi an agent of British rulers in India.

"Entire country reveres the Father of the Nation. His contribution for India's freedom is unparalleled," said president of MGYF, Lalesh Thakkar. The members of MGYF had earlier last week protested against the derogatory remark by Katju and observed one-day fast.
