: Two hardcore female Maoists from Chhattisgarh surrendered in Kalahandi district of Odisha on Monday.

Phulbati (30) alias Mithila and Rukmati (28) alias Ramshila were residents of Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.

Both surrendered before Inspector General of Police (IGP) Yashwant Jethwa. Their surrender followed an exchange of fire between security forces and naxalites in Golmunda block of Kalahandi district on March 8 in which one ultra had been killed.

They had joined the outlawed outfit in 2006 and were members of Koilibhitar area committee at Mainpur under Nuapada Division of CPI (Maoist) organization.
