Robbers make off with jewellery, cash

March 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:53 am IST - DINDIGUL:

A three-member gang robbed jewels, cash and smart phones from the house of a lawyer in Natham near here in the early hours of Monday. The police said the gang broke open the front door of the house using iron rods when the house owner Kaja Mohideen (45) and his wife Kishore Banu were asleep. When they attempted to snatch jewels from Ms. Banu, she shouted for help. While one of the robbers threatened to kill her husband, the other two took away 56 sovereigns and Rs.43,000 kept in the bureau and two smart phones from them. Acting on a complaint lodged by Kaja Mohideen, Natham police registered a case. DSP Vanitha inspected the spot and conducted inquiry. Finger print experts were pressed into service. Three special squads have been formed to hunt down the robbers. – Staff Reporter
