The students of SSM Institutions, Komarapalayam in Namakkal district, presented cultural programmes at the Indo-Bhutan Cultural Exchange Programme held in Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, in the first week of March.
The programme was organised to celebrate the 60th birthday of King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.
Students of SSM College of Engineering, SSM College of Arts and Science and SSM School of Management presented cultural events at the programme, which was organised jointly by the SSM Institutions and Rigsum Institute of Technical Education and Management Studies, Thimphu.
The students of SSM institutions presented traditional dance forms in Indian costumes and also rendered Indian songs.
They also visited the Rigsum Institute of Technical Education and Management Studies, Buddhist monarchs, Bhutan Chamber of Commerce, Bhutan Parliament and other historical places of importance. For the past seven years, SSM students are participating in the cultural programmes organised by Bhutan Government.
The Chairman of the SSM Group of Institutions M. S. Mathivanan commended the performance of the students at Thimphu.
