Ex-minister booked for child abuse

RANCHI: Former Congress minister Mannan Mallick has been booked on charges of sexually exploiting and torturing a 13-year-old girl employed as a maid by the family in contravention of the child labour law.
While Mallick was out of town, his grandson Samsher – who has been named in the FIR along with Mallick’s wife and son – was arrested by the police on Sunday.
The girl, a Dhanbad native, started working for Mannan Mallick in 2010.She has claimed in her
complaint that the 70-year-old former Dhanbad MLA would come to her room at night and “touch her indecently”. She has also alleged that she was made to give Mallick and his wife a body massage.
