The police said Madhava was shifted to a private hospital in Deralakatte where he died following a surgery.

Madhava’s brother Karunakara on Thursday filed a complaint that his brother had been assaulted by a group that was unhappy with him for objecting to the group’s involvement in extraction of sand from river bed in Adyar.

He alleged that Madhava had been kidnapped on March 8 and then assaulted badly. He has accused the group of murdering Madhava.

The Mangaluru Rural police have registered a case of murder. The police said there were no external injuries on Madava showing assault. They are waiting for autopsy report.
