Minister seeks NH tag for Tawang-Vijaynagar road
ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh has urged the Centre to approve the proposed 2,000-km road from Tawang to Vijaynagar to provide connectivity to the border areas along the MacMohan line by declaring it a National Highway.
State PWD minister Gojen Gadi made the plea during a meeting with Union minister of state for home affairs Kiren Rijiju in New Delhi on Saturday, an official release said here on Sunday.

Pointing out that a concept paper with provisions for consultancy services worth Rs 63 crore has been submitted to the ministry of road transport and highway, Gadi sought immediate sanction of funds to prepare the detailed project report (DPR) on a priority basis.
Gadi also urged the minister to declare the proposed 431-km East-West Industrial Corridor Highway along the foothill areas from Bhairabkund to Rukshin as a national highway with funds worth Rs 8.50 crore for consultancy services.
Both the roads are Rijiju’s pet projects that he had announced in July, 2014. Gadi also reiterated his request for awarding eight of the 22 road projects to the state PWD as the progress of the 14 ongoing schemes was about 71% and are likely to be completed within a year.
