Fire confined to garage of home
Two off-duty firefighters helped evacuate residents from a house fire in Centerville early Sunday morning. The fire was reported at 182 Skunknet Road in Centerville at 7:04 a.m. on Sunday, according to fire officials. Responding firefighters found two off-duty firefighters in the process of evacuating the home and attempting to fight the fire with extinguishers provided by the homeowner, according to fire officials. The fire was confined to an attached garage, but there was smoke damage to the living area of the home as well. One firefighter was taken to a hospital for medical evaluation after the fire was extinguished, according to fire officials. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
