SI suspended for drunken driving

A police sub inspector V. Damodaran attached to Keeriparai Police Station was placed under suspension for alleged drunken driving resulting in knocking down of three persons in Mandaicaud on Wednesday morning.

Damodaran was driving a car and he knocked down roadside vendors K. Vetrivel of Alangulam, M. Mohamed Ali Jinna of Tirupur and a devotee K. Natesan of Kootumangalam village. The incident took place when Damodaran was returning from Mandaicaud temple festival bandobust. The injured have been admitted to KGMCH. Mandaicaud police registered a case against Damodaran. They also registered a case against the injured based on a complaint filed by Mr. Damodaran alleging that three had attacked him. Meanwhile, on receiving the medical report of the SI, the Superintendent of Police, N. Manivannan, placed him under suspension, police sources here said.
