The RSS has re-elected Suresh alias Bhaiyyaji Joshi as Sarkaryawah for the third consecutive three-year term. The announcement came Saturday, the second day of RSS Pratinidhi Sabha (delegates’ conference), at a press briefing by Sahpracharpramukh (deputy media in-charge) Nanda Kumar.

A lot of speculation was on about Joshi making way for his deputy Sahsarkaryawah Dattatreya Hosbale, which was laid to rest Friday by Hosbale himself who told the media that there was no need to change the general when the army was doing well.

Nanda Kumar Saturday also dismissed speculation about Joshi being given the responsibility of coordination with the government. “There is no such idea… It’s all in the media,” he said.

Joshi’s preeminence in Sangh top echelon was underscored in no uncertain terms by Nanda Kumar as he said, “The RSS’ impressive growth over the last six years has happened under Bhaiyyaji’s leadership.”

Joshi will elect his team on Sunday, the last day of the Pratinidhi Sabha. No major change is expected in the present team, except for some reshuffling of responsibilities.

Festive offer

While the RSS chief is usually the main face of the Sangh Pariwar, his role is of a philosopher and guide. It is sarkaryawah, who is the real executive of the organisation. The attribution of the Sangh’s growth to Joshi comes as a powerful acknowledgment of Joshi’s silent authority in the Pariwar.

Speaking to the media, Nanda Kumar also said the Pratinidhi Sabha passed a resolution for promotion of Yoga in school curriculum and for more research on Yoga.

The RSS expressed gratitude to the United Nations for declaring June 21 as International Yoga Day. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made the appeal in the UN speech, which was accepted by 175 countries that co-sponsored the resolution for the day. The Pratinidhi Sabha compliments all those who facilitated the UN resolution,” the RSS resolution said.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union minister Nitin Gadkari and state BJP chief Raosaheb Danve also visited the venue and met party president Amit Shah, who is participating in the Sabha.

Nanda Kumar, however, clarified they were not part of the Pratinidhi Sabha since they were not delegates.
