“Today’s youngsters want more than just food; they want love, happiness and security too,” says director Nanjil P.C. Anbazhagan. “My film, Nathigal Nanaivathillai that stars Pranav and Monika, is about this eternal quest. The youngsters are unlike those in previous generations who were content to live off ancestral wealth.” He adds, “The hero is an educated but unemployed youngster, who is willing to do any kind of job, as he believes that dignity exists in all kinds of labour.” Nathigal Nanaivathillai is scheduled for release on March 27.

Back to Chennai

Last seen in Jilla (2014), Kajal Aggarwal has been busy with Telugu film projects. Now, after a year, she has signed two Tamil films. One is director Suseenthiran’s yet-untitled film starring Vishal (for which she is currently shooting the first schedule in Chennai), and the other, Maari with Dhanush. “In Maari , I play a Chennai-based fashion designer. It is not the conventional love story and the love is treated differently. In Suseenthiran’s film, I play a Madurai-based girl who works in the hospitality industry and has an accidental encounter with Vishal.,” says Kajal, who also has a Hindi film titled Do Lafzon Ki Kahani under production. “ Do Lafzon by Deepak Tijori has me paired with Randeep Hooda. It is based in Malaysia and we will start shooting soon.”

Immaterial love

Director Shamy Thirumalai’s Kaadhal Agathee talks about the irony of those who have everything but cannot enjoy them. “The hero of Kaadhal Agathee is one such. Unable to enjoy life, he runs away. He then comes across a girl in a similar situation. What do they find in each other? Is love above materialistic pursuits? This is what the film is about,” says Shamy. The main roles are played by Harikumar and Ayesha.
