Raahgirs may have woken up to heavy rains this Sunday, but the rain gods were merciful and it stopped pouring in time for Raahgirs to celebrate Women's Day at CP . Organized by Delhi Police and New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) along with Embarq India and supported by The Times of India, this edition of Raahgiri Day saw many Delhi girls out with their friends, celebrating the day meant especially for them.
EVEN GUYS CELEBRATED WOMEN'S DAY:
The morning saw a cycling event in support of women's safety , organized by SpinLife, a cycling group in Delhi, along with Jagori, a women's rights NGO and Safetipin, a women's safety mobile app. “We thought the turnout might get affected due to the rain, but surprisingly the participation was more than what we expected. And not just girls, but guys too participated in the cycling event,“ said Prabhleen from Jagori.
TESTING THE LOVE:
As a part of the Great Indian Lover campaign, Raahgirs were also tested on their love quotient in CP . Couples had to jump the hurdles (literally, as it was an obstacle course) that signified the hurdles one faces in love. Many couples also posed for fun pictures in front of backdrops from romantic scenes from iconic romantic movies like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Jab We Met and Titanic. Manish Sisodia, deputy chief minister of Delhi, was also present and spoke about how he plans to focus on making Delhi a safe place for women. Invictus, a self-defence training organization gave out free pepper sprays to girls along with a brochure that had self-defence tips compiled by the chief instructor.
