Prashanth Police Patil caught a 7.5 feet-long ‘Damini’ snake weighing more than 4 kg at the Rotary Club School in the heart of Kalaburagi on Friday.
The poisonous snake had taken shelter into a classroom in the school. Unsuspecting teachers who opened the classroom in the afternoon found to their horror, the snake at a corner of the classroom. The teachers who locked the classroom immediately called Mr, Patil, an expert snake catcher who has caught more than 1500 snakes in the past six years.
Mr. Patil was in the spot within 30 minutes and the snake was in the safe hands. “The snake would be freed in the outskirts of the city in the natural habitat where it would get food and water,” he said.
He said the people out of panic killed many snakes after it is sighted. He appealed to the people not to kill the snakes and try to catch them alive with the help of the experts like him and leave them in the natural habitat.
“This is the season for the snakes to come out during the night for mating and the people should be wary of them, particularly those living in the secluded and woody areas,” he said.
Mr. Police Patil can be contacted on his mobile number 7411431430, for any help to catch the snakes.
