Bandh hits life in Imphal
Imphal: Life came to a grinding halt in Imphal on Friday due to a 48-hour general strike called by a Muslim students’ body to protest against Wednesday’s bomb explosion in Imphal that killed three persons and injured 23 others.
The bandh, called by the All Manipur Minorities Students’ Union (AMMSU), will continue till Saturday midnight.
Two migrant workers and a local Muslim student were killed and over 20 injured in the explosion triggered by suspected militants near a women’s market in Imphal on Wednesday.

Business establishments in Imphal city covering Paona Bazaar, Thangal Bazaar, BT Road, MG Avenue, Khoyathong, Nagamapal and Keishampat were closed due to the bandh.
Inter-state and inter-district transport services remained shut though CBSE exam centres remained out of the bandh’s purview.
Life was also paralyzed in other districts owing to the bandh that began on Thursday midnight even as several women groups staged demonstrations across the Imphal Valley mostly in Muslim-dominated areas.
Bandh supporters burnt logs and tyres at several places in the capital to block traffic.
