The 21 finalists of fbb Femina Miss India 2015 visited Richfeel, the trichology pioneers, where they had a long interaction with Dr Apoorva Shah and Dr Sonal Shah, the country’s first and one of the world’s leading trichologists.
Richfeel is the largest and oldest chain of trichology clinics, with more than 70 clinics pan India. The brand has been associated with the Miss India pageant for more than 10 years and has recently been voted as the No 1 haircare brand by the Brand Trust Report of India.

Trichologists Dr Apoorva Shah and Dr Sonal Shah
Dr Apoorva and Dr Sonal had a one-on-one session with the contestants where they explained the need to maintain a healthy haircare regime along with taking supplements to have gorgeous and glowing hair. They addressed the participants and gave them tips on how to take care of their hair in the run up to the pageant. The clinic has innovative and unique services like Austrian TST+ to stop hair fall, Swiss Anagrow to fight hair thinning, Ailesbury hair transplants to cover bald patches and many others.

The session included a sonography for the hair and scalp. Speaking to the finalists, Dr Sonal said, “Hair is one of human body’s most visible part and go a long way in building a person’s prestige, image and confidence. There are many conditions that determine poor hair growth and hair loss in women. A FCT (Follicle Count Test) is done to understand hair loss in women in the age group of early 20 to 30. Genetic hair thinning in women can occur due to health conditions like PCOD, thyroid, fibroid, pregnancy or menopause. Diseases like swine flu and dengue can also be other factors that accelerate hair loss.”
A case history of the finalists was taken to understand whether there is lack of minerals that can affect hair loss. Strands of hair were taken and then sent to a lab to determine the condition of the hair root and shaft.
Dr Sonal also emphasised on the need to use a sulphate-free shampoo to protect hair from damage. She also reflected on the need to drink plenty of water, use a shaft protector and shaft enhancer and a rosewood comb to prevent hair loss.
Speaking to the finalists, Dr Apoorva said, “The field that you have chosen will require you to take care of your hair on a daily basis. It has to be seven times stronger than an average person’s hair because of the constant exposure to harsh lights and various kinds of chemicals. To ensure that you have lustrous hair, taking care of them with the right treatment is advisable.”
