Intel has just outed BIOS 0040 developed for its DC53427HYE NUC kit, as well as for its D53427RKE NUC board included within the kit, which adds watchdog timer solution and “Suppress Alert Messages At Boot” BIOS item.

In addition to that, Intel’s release also removes a bug that prevented users from clearing TPM password, and fixes a problem where neither user or supervisor passwords couldn’t be updated by Integrator Toolkit.

As for installing the package, first of all you should take into account that flashing the BIOS must be performed only when the newer one specifically solves an issue that bothered you or implements a very useful modification/new feature.

Moreover, since a power disruption can cause serious device malfunctions, it would be recommended that you carry out the process using a stable power source (a UPS unit should be more than enough).

Besides taking into account all recommendations, you must also know that Intel has provided 4 installation packages describing 3 different update methods: Recovery, iflash, and Express BIOS Update files.

In order to be clear, iFlash archive can apply BIOS 0040 through a DOS command prompt, while the Recovery .BIO package can perform the same task using an F6 update method. Furthermore, the latter one can also recover the BIOS left in an unusable state.

When it comes to the Express BIOS Update, the two executables (one for each bit variant) are to be used only if your NUC (D53427RKE or DC53427HYE) is powered by a Microsoft Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 operating system.

That being told, download Intel DC53427HYE NUC Kit BIOS 0040 or download Intel D53427RKE NUC Board BIOS 0040, carefully apply it on your unit, and enjoy the changes that this new release brings about.
