He was supposed to adapt Jhinder Bandi for the big screen. But Anjan Dutt has done a U-turn on that. The director, who will get busy with the shoot of his next edition of
Bomkesh Bakshi from April with Jisshu U Sengupta, has washed his hands of the project and will instead work on a Shakespearean tragedy by year-end.
The director says he was hurried by
Rana Sarkar, who is putting the project together.
Rana came to know about the adaptation and met me. But I realized he was in great hurry to do the film and I didn't want to come up with a halfbaked venture. This historic drama by Tapan Sinha continues to be extremely popular with movie lovers and a bad job of it will not be taken kindly," said Anjan from Shillong.
The director was toying with the idea of adapting
Jhinder Bandi before the release of
Bomkesh Phire Elo and the scene changed once the movie was lapped up by moviegoers. Obviously then, Bomkesh was quick to feature on top of Anjan's priority list.
