“I have made my own distinctive space and that reflects in my films, characters and their language. Coming from a small town, Hindi medium school to composing for Broadway musical, was a big journey for me. It is like travelling from North to South Pole,” he said.

Bhardwaj’s films are known for their unique subject, language and the minute detailing that was evident even in his last outing “Haider”.

Festive offer

Set in the Kashmir of ’90s and a modern day adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’, the film brought the lifestyle of that era to life beautifully on-screen.

When asked about the costumes in the movie, Bhardwaj said, “The shawl that Tabu was wearing in the wedding scene was very expensive. There was an old family and they had a treasure of traditional stuff. They lent us the shawl for the scene,” he said.
