NCP MLA from Porbandar arrested in rioting case

The Gujarat Police on Friday morning arrested Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Kandhal Jadeja from Kutiyana in Porbandar district in a rioting case.

Mr. Jadeja, son of Santokben Jadeja who is popularly was known as “Godmother”, was travelling in a car with some friends when another car overtook them. The MLA and his companions beat up the man in the overtaking car, with whose family the Jadejas have a long-standing feud. This resulted in rioting and the police arrested Mr. Jadeja at 4.30 a.m. on Friday morning, inspector P.N. Vaghela told The Hindu .

Mr. Jadeja was arrested under the rioting sections 143, 147 and 149; and 504 (intentional insult), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
