Meeting on old students’ group

S.V. Parameshwara Bhatta Kannada Adhyayana Samsthe, Mangalore University, has convened a meeting at University College, Hampankatta, on March 14 at 2 p.m. The meeting aims to discuss the formation of an association, Gilivindu Balaga, which will comprise old students of the Kannada department which is to observe its golden jubilee in 2018.

The institution has requested research candidates also to attend it.

Drawing workshop today

The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) will conduct a one-day drawing workshop for school students on March 14. This workshop will train the students to create paintings that will be used to generate awareness among people on the need to segregate domestic waste at source. This workshop will be followed by a drawing competition that will be held on March 15 between 11 a.m. and noon. Both the events will be held on the III floor of the MCC building, a release said.

Mathematics training for class 10

The International Bunts Welfare Trust will conduct a day-long training in mathematics for class 10 students on March 15. The training will be held at Sharada Vidyalaya between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The former MLA K.Amarnath Shetty, working president of the trust, told reporters here on Thursday that nearly 25 teachers would conduct the programme. As many as 600 students were likely to participate, he said.

An interview of poet and writer Vasant Kumar Perla, Assistant Director of Mangalore AIR Station, will be telecast on the Doordarshan’s Chandana channel on March 14. The interview is part of ‘Belagu’ that is aired at 7 a.m. The interview will discuss the contribution of Mr. Perla in the field of literature. — Staff Correspondent

Southern Railway’s Women’s Day

The Southern Railway’s Palakkad Division celebrated Women’s Day at the office of the Divisional Railway Manager on Wednesday. Latha Nair, Project Director of Organisation for Industrial, Spiritual and Cultural Advancement, Palakkad, spoke on ‘Women’s Empowerment’. Muthamizh, Secretary of Neelam Organisation, and V. Kalarani, Chief Medical Superintendent at the Palakkad Division, also spoke.
