Vikhroli: Addl magistrate suspended for ‘misconduct’
Mumbai Mirror Bureau
An additional chief metropolitan magistrate from Vikhroli was suspended by the Bombay High Court on Thursday following a ‘trap’ laid by the court’s vigilance wing.
“Magistrate M I G D Shaikh has been suspended for misconduct unbecoming of a judge,” Mangesh Patil, registrar general of the Bombay High Court, told Mirror.
Shaikh, 59, has been presiding over a Vikhroli court since August 8, 2011. Last year a sessions court judge, M T Gaikwad, was suspended after a sexual harassment complaint was filed against him by a court staffer. He was presiding over the special Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act court at the time.

Sources in Vikhroli court said the judge was suspended after he was caught with bribe. “It has been a while since a complaint was filed against him and after he was trapped, he was asked to retire from court no. 1 at 11.30 am today,” a source said.
