The "Samiidha Bhavani" is the "first fully-legal and complete self-defense device for women" - and it looks pretty tame, until you find out what it can do. Here’s everything packed into one awesome self defence steel stick. It was unveiled by Nirbhaya's parents on Tuesday. We want to call it selfie stick, but the term is already taken! So here are its features.

Pepper spray: A classic weapon for women - just spray, and run.
Panic button: To trigger off an alert to 5 recipients in the neighbourhood.
Siren and strobe light: To temporarily blind an attacker.
A pen knife: no explanation needed. When defensive measures fail, sometimes a blade is your best friend.

So, to sum it up, a Rs. 1000 steel sword that lets you beat up an attacker, blind him with pepper and also send alert up to 5 pre-saved recipients in the neighborhood using GPS.

At 1.5 kgs, the device is pretty light, and uses the R&D of sports and martial arts experts from Germany, the U.K., Singapore and Japan. Pune-based orthopedic doctor Pavan Kohli, the device's creator, plans to sell it for a 1000 bucks. In comparison, pepper spray costs about Rs. 700. the Bhavani can be folded to fit into a handbag. Dr. Kohli has reached out to government to sell the Bhawani at police stations, and also envisions selling it at Baba Ramdev's multi-million yoga and health retail stores.

Why does it contains a sewing kit, sindoor and a mirror?

Our theory: sewing kit helped you quickly repair a revealing fabric tear, and the sindoor made you look married - both acting as subtle precaution. The mirror - well, you have to check your makeup, ladies! Kohli explained: “For office-going girls…it is a multipurpose device…it’s anything that a woman wants for her dignity.”
