MIRI: Malaysia’s leading exhibitor and multiplex cinema operator, TGV Cinemas aims to open three more cinemas in the country by 2016.

They would be located at Sunway Velocity, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu, according to its chief executive officer Gerald V Dibbayawan.

“These new facilities include a state-of-the-art Maybank-IMAX screens,” Gerald said at the grand opening of TGV Cinemas in Permaisuri Imperial City Mall here yesterday.

Gerald said TGV Cinemas recently opened AEON Bukit Mertajam in Penang, AEON Kulaijaya (Johor) and AEON Seri Manjung (Perak). Last month it opened TGV Cinemas Jaya Shopping Centre.

The addition of these cinemas give TGV Cinemas 28 multiplex cinemas with 225 screens and a total capacity exceeding 39,100 seats.

This year the cinema is planning to expand to Sunway Putra, AU2 Setiawangsa, D’Pluze Cyberjaya, Taiping and Klebang.

Gerald talked about the grand opening of TGV Cinemas at Permaisuri Imperial City Mall in Miri.

“We are excited about our first cinema in East Malaysia. Since the opening of TGV Cinemas here in December, it has been well supported by the local community and Bruneians.”

The launch of the TGV’s grand opening coincides with the release of the Disney animation blockbuster ‘Cinderella’.

One of the key highlights of the grand opening was TGV Cinemas giving a pair of movie passes to 10 lucky ladies able to fit into the Cinderella inspired shoes on the day.

“This is just the beginning. Movie lovers of TGV Cinemas Permaisuri Imperial City Mall can participate in some of our current and upcoming promotions. They can now purchase tickets for Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ in advance, enjoy the latest popcorn flavours such as Sour Cream & Onion and Peanuts Royale as well as sign up for TGV Cinemas’ Movie Club,” Gerald said.

Movie lovers can download the TGV Cinemas’ mobile application to purchase tickets anytime and anywhere with a single click.
