The 10-day-long annual festival of the Guruvayur Sreekrishna Temple concluded on Wednesday with Arat rites. The idol of the deity was taken in a procession to Pazhukka Mandapam.

The junior priest performed Deeparadhana. Later, the idol was taken in a procession for the Arat. Percussion ensembles accompanied the idol. Arat (holy bath) of the idol was one in the Rudratheertha kulam. Temple priests and hundreds of devotees took part in the ceremony.

Thousands of people thronged the temple for the other rites such as Gramapradhakshinam, Utsava Bali, Ottapradakshinam and Pallivetta.

Apart from the ceremonial rites, there were performances of percussion ensembles and cultural programmes during the 10-day festival. The festival ended with the temple thanthri (chief priest) lowering the ceremonial flag.
