Has science killed God?

Has science killed God?

Is God dead, as Friedrich Nietzsche predicted it over a century ago or have we just came to the realisation he never existed in the first place and that we no longer need him to explain what needs to be explained, because we now have better natural explanations of the existing phenomena?

Is it not true that science explains things properly and we now no longer need to give recourse to ad hoc theories that supernatural explanations offer believers?

One such discovery that has given the god notion a death knell is the biological evolution of all life and galactic evolution of our immense universe.

Although more than 99 percent of all species that ever lived on the planet are estimated to be extinct, there are currently 14 million species of life on the Earth.

That is a lot more life than the prescience Bronze Age bible authors and bible god could ever know about.

Our Universe is immense. The part of the Universe that we can see, referred to as the observable universe, is about 91 billion light-years (91 billion x 10 trillion km across) in diameter at the present time. There are probably more than 110 billion galaxies in the observable Universe.

Some galaxies have trillions of stars. So ho many stars are there? Our single star (sun) has eight planets and five dwarf planets. So how many planets are there?

The universe is aprox. 13.8 billion years old and the earth is  4.5 billion years old.

Well that is a much larger and older universe than tribal bible god and his primitive desert flock could have ever known about wouldn't you say? Christians have no choice they must accept scientific explanations of the history of our earth or believe a lie.

So Christians have to choose science or the Bible. Many Christians unable to free themselves from their bondage have chosen science and the bible. Well that has to be an oxymoron. Science and the bible do not go together.

So the biggest hit against the bible and its god has come from biology and specifically but not limited to Darwinian evolution. Liberal Christians learning from the debacle in Galileo's day have come to embrace evolution as a fact. Yet Evangelicals still denounce it, even though it is slowly winning over the best and the brightest among them.

You see with evolution we no longer need a creator, for there is nothing left to explain by means of the supernatural hypothesis. Completely obliterated is the literal Genesis account of origins, and since that's the case why should anyone think there is any divine mind behind the writings in the bible at all? No one should.

Apart from biological science of which evolution is the corner stone the other fields   that have sounded the bells at his funeral are Palaeontology, Astronomy, Archaeology, Psychology, Anthropology, Neurology, Geology to mention a few.

In fact, these and other sciences have repeatedly pummelled Christianity and other religions for centuries. The fact that there are still Christians is a testament to the stubbornness of belief and an almost wilful ignorance to believe despite what science teaches us.

God is dead. At least the idea of God is dead. We do not need him. It's time to give up childish things and think as adults. Become scientifically literate. Become informed. Grow out of religious belief just as you did with the belief in the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny and dump your imaginary adult friend.
