NEW DELHI: Responding to the surfacing of a tape in which purportedly AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal is seen suggesting that six Congress legislators be poached to form a government in Delhi, the party's Mumbai functionary, Anjali Damania, announced her resignation on Twitter on Wednesday. She has sought an inquiry into the allegations.
Expressing her disillusionment with AAP, she tweeted: "I quit...
I have not come into AAP for this nonsense. I believed him...I backed Arvind for principles not horse-trading...Arvind, Prashant Bhushan, Yogendra Yadav should beg apology to volunteers in next 48 hours for their acts. I demand inquiry into all these allegations.''
She added, "AAP is not a political party. It was a ray of hope for this country. Thousands of volunteers slogged for it. Just no one can play with the siddhant (principles). AAP will only work on siddhant... Just enough of nonsense. Volunteers have given their sweat and blood. It is not for the party... It is for the country.''
Sources said AAP colleague Preeti Sharma Menon has been asked to convince Damania to take back her resignation.
