March 10, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - MANGALURU:

The Mangaluru North police have arrested Gladys Almeida (40) for alleged use of fake court decree in a city court.

The arrest was made following an investigation into a complaint filed by Shivakumara Swamy, the Shirestidar of Principal Civil Judge Court. In the complaint filed in October 204, Mr. Swamy accused Ms. Almeida of producing before the I Additional Civil Judge (Junior Division) Court, a fake order in the original suit filed by Carmeline Pereira claiming her share in the property of her husband Everest Perira.

The order she produced was of the Principal Civil Judge (Senior Division Court) in the Matrimonial Case filed by Carmeline Pereira against her husband.

Following a petition by Ms. Pereira, the Court looked into the records and found no order granting divorce passed by the Senior Division Court. The Court also found that seals and signature found on the divorce judgement was not of the court.

This complaint was referred to the Mangaluru North police, who arrested Gladys Almeida. She has been remanded to judicial custody till March 17, the police said.
