Fraport: Frankfurt Airport's Feb. Passenger Traffic Up 4.6% - Quick Facts

Fraport AG (FRA.DE,0O1R.L,FPRUF.PK), the owner and operator of Germany's Frankfurt Airport or FRA, reported Wednesday that FRA welcomed around 3.8 million passengers in February 2015, a 4.6 percent increase compared with last year.

Fraport said that passenger growth was largely attributable to increased domestic traffic and a rise in demand for tourist destinations in Europe and North Africa - as well as the non-recurrence of strikes which negatively impacted FRA's traffic volumes in February 2014.

Also, FRA's cargo volume, including airfreight and airmail, continued to grow in the reporting month, growing by 1.8 percent year-over-year to 162,068 metric tons. Maximum takeoff weights or MTOWs expanded by 2.5 percent to more than 2 million metric tons. Thus, the average MTOW per aircraft movement significantly increased from 119.9 to 124.8 metric tons.

During February 2015, Slovenia's Ljubljana Airport saw a 3.8 percent decline in passenger numbers to 72,265. With about 1.3 million passengers, Lima Airport in the capital city of Peru achieved ongoing strong passenger growth of 9.6 percent.
