RGUHS directed to verify documents related to entrance exams

March 11, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - KALABURAGI:

The Division Bench of the Gulbarga Bench of the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday directed Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) to submit a detailed report within two weeks after verifying the documents available with the Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College and the Karnataka Religious and Linquistic Minorities Professional Colleges Association about the details of the entrance examination for admission to postgraduate medical courses.

The two member Division Bench, consisting of Justice Ravi Mallimath and Justice R.B. Budhihal, which heard the petitions challenging the admission of Devika Sengupta in the postgraduate diploma course in gynaecology and obstetrics in the medical college, said that it was clear from the records and the reports submitted by the university that both the college and the association had not provided the required information and documents to the university.

Mr. Mallimath warned that failure to provide authentic documents and information, pertaining to the entrance tests by these two institutions, may result in the cancellation of the admission given to Dr. Sengupta. “Even if the candidate had appeared in the examination, the certificate would not be issued to the candidate (if the case goes against the college),” he said.

The court also directed the college to furnish all the details of the date of applications filed by both Dr. Sengupta and the petitioner, Sha-be-Mehraj Banu, who was denied admission to course.

Mr. Mallimath also directed COMEDK to furnish all details of Dr. Banu appearing in the entrance examination to the university to finalise its finding and posted the case for further hearing on April 1.

Senior Advocate Vilaskumar appearing for Dr. Banu placed all the records before the court and pleaded that Dr. Banu was unjustly denied the seat and it was allotted to Dr. Sengupta, who according to him, had not appeared in any qualifying examination. Advocate R.S. Kadaganchi pleaded on behalf of the medical college.
