PUNE: The
crime branch of the
Pune police has arrested two criminals on police record and seized two country-made pistols and four
cartridges from them.
Anil Patil, inspector of the anti-extortion squad of the Pune crime branch, arrested Deepak Pasalkar (23) of Velhe on Sinhagad Road on Monday. A
country-made pistol and two cartridges were seized from him. “Pasalkar, a member of the
Nilesh Ghaywal gang, was nabbed based on a tip-off received by constable Sanjay Kalokhe,” he said.
“During interrogation, Pasalkar revealed that Pappu Taware, a criminal who was shot dead in Khadakwasla in December 2013, had given him the weapon,” Patil said, adding that Pasalkar has cases of attempt to murder and body offences registered against him with the Pune rural police.
On Sunday, crime branch (unit-I) led by inspector Raghunath Phuge arrested Suraj Karale (27) of Dhankawdi and seized a country-made pistol, two cartridges and a scooter from him.
Karale was nabbed based on a tip-off received by constable Shrikant Waghawale. “Karale revealed that he was carrying the weapon for self protection as he was receiving threats from Rohidas Chorge, a criminal,” Phuge said.
