Varanasi: A dreaded gangster of Mau, carrying reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, managed to escape after opening fire at Special Task Force (STF) team in Azamgarh district, but the cops succeeded in nabbing one of his accomplices on Monday.
According to STF Varanasi field unit, after locating gangster Ashish Chaubey in Lalganj area under Deogaon police station in Azamgarh district, the STF personnel cordoned the area.
The STF team had information that Ashish would pass through this area with his two accomplices.
When STF personnel tried to nab them, the gangsters started indiscriminate fire at them.
