Saturday at Gracie

Mayor de Blasio was late for a St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the Rockaways Saturday, earning him boos.

No news there. This is the same man who missed the moment of silence for the passengers of American Airlines Flight 587, which crashed in 2001 in Belle Harbor, because he was an hour late for the memorial service.

Not long after that, passengers from JFK to Puerto Rico had to wait to board their flight because the mayor again showed up late. In the city that never sleeps, our mayor can’t get himself out of bed.

In the past, excuses have ranged from the “fog” to “I’m not a morning person.” But this time, however, he said he was working.

“We had some meetings at Gracie Mansion today that took awhile,” he said.

Let’s be clear: It’s Saturday morning at Gracie Mansion, and the city’s most notorious late-riser was busy holding meetings.

So The Post sent him an e-mail yesterday asking for the following information about Saturday’s business meeting:

  •  What time was the meeting scheduled to start and when did it start?
  •  What time was the meeting scheduled to end and when did it?
  •  A list of all the people who attended the meeting.
  •  What was discussed at the meeting?

In response, the mayor’s spokesman refused to give specifics. All he would say is, “the mayor on Saturday had internal meetings with senior staff on education policy that ran longer than anticipated.”

Not good enough. It’s no longer about whether the mayor can get to an event on time.

It’s about whether he is telling the people of New York the truth.
