The unseasonal rains caused extensive crop loss in various parts of Karimnagar district on Monday.

The rain damaged mango orchards, maize, paddy and vegetable fields in the district.

Mango orchards hit

The mango trees which were at the fruit bearing stages, were damaged badly in the rains followed by strong gales.

The district received average rainfall of 7.1 mm on Monday. However, Choppadandi, Sarangapur, Metpally, Jagtial, Raikal, Gollapalli, Dharmaram and other mandals received more than 30 mm rainfall.

Heavy rainfall in Medak

Medak Staff Reporter adds: Heavy rain that lashed several parts of Medak district late last night had continued till Monday morning.

Trees have been uprooted at several places and electric poles came down in some places. Several low-lying areas have been inundated.

Muniapally in Sangareddy division registered 89.2 m.m. rainfall, highest in a single day in the recent past.

Hatnoora in Medak division registered 68 m.m., while Kondapur and Sangareddy – 64.2 and 64.4 m.m. had rain fall respectively.

However, agriculture officials claimed that there was no crop loss due to the rainfall on Sunday night.
