Bukhari for speeding up work on development projects

SRINGAR, Mar 9: To combat the situation arising due to recent snowfall in Valley and to clear the major roads of snow, the Minister for Public Works Department, Mohammad Altaf Bukhari convened a high level meeting of concerned officers at Banquet Hall here today.
The Minister was informed that snow has been cleared from all major and link roads of Valley which have been completely restored for traffic.
Reviewing the functioning of PWD, the Minister was informed through a power point presentation that the department has taken up 1735 developmental works in hand under State sector at an estimated cost of Rs. 373.54 crore out of which Rs. 151.50 crore have been released so far.
An amount of Rs. 128.03 crore has been expended on these projects upto ending February 2015. These works include construction of 688 roads and 230 bridges under State sector and 718 works were taken up under NABARD besides 99 other works in the State during current fiscal.
The Minister also reviewed the progress of works under PMGSY and Mechanical Engineering through power point presentation. He urged the officers to speed up the work on these developmental works so that people get benefitted. He also directed the concerned to ensure use of quality material in developmental projects and redouble efforts for completing the projects within the target time frame.
Bukhari directed the officers of the department not to leave their headquarters without prior permission and be prompt in service delivery.
The Commissioner Secretary R&B, Chief Engineer and other officers of the department were present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Minister accompanied by the high officials visited Khanyar, Zadibal, Eidgah, Darish Kadal to review the ongoing beautification of Dastgeer Sahib (RA) Shrine, Aali Masjid and Imam Bargah, Zadibal. He also inspected the dewatering station at Darish Kadal and urged the officials to work with dedication to ensure quality service delivery.
The Minister also visited SKIMS, Soura and interacted with Director of the Institution. He sought information about swine flu impact and asked the hospital administration to provide every medicare facility to such patients.
Later, Bukhari visited flood devastated Jawahar Nagar and Rajbagh areas and interacted with the local and enquired about the problems being faced by them. He assured them that their problems would be resolved on priority.
