NOIDA: After Anna Hazare, students of Jawaharlal Nehru University have come forward to support the cause of farmers.
Come March 13, a group of students from the university will perform nukkad natak (street play) across Greater Noida to raise awareness among villagers about their rights pertaining to land acquisition.
"Starting March 13, farmers will hold protest marches across Noida and Greater Noida for three consecutive days.
Students from JNU have extended their support and they will also perform street plays at various points during the rallies through the villages. The protest rally will begin from Bhatta Parsaul," a member of the Kisan Sangharsh Samiti, a farmers' organization, said.
He added, "Land acquisition issue is complex. So the skits, which are going to be performed, will help farmers and their families understand the impact of land acquisition and how their future hangs in balance because of such anti-farmers' initiative."
On March 16, thousands of farmers are expected to gather at Rajghat.
"From Rajghat, we will march towards Parliament. We will raise anti-government slogans. We want the entire country to wake up to the reality of the farmers and the adversities they are being subjected to because of land acquisition," another member of the organization said.
